1,2, 3D Blast off – Session II
April 22, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm$25.00
For ages 14+
Traditional model rockets require a ton of work and patience. Students usually have to cut wood components, precisely align the parts, and then gluing them together, which can be messy and time consuming. Even then, the rocket may not launch safely if you didn’t get the parts aligned exactly right! 3D printed rockets eliminate those issues because they can be built in minutes with a 3D printer. These rocket parts have been designed in such a way that they can only be built one way– the right way. Students will assemble their own rockets from 3D printed parts that we printed for them. Students will also learn what resources to use to 3D print their own rocket parts at home for later. The rockets made are recoverable and students will also take their rocket models home after launching.
The Citizen Science Lab is fully equipped with the tools and equipment needed to facilitate fun, engaging and safe experiments. All students are provided with gloves, safety goggles and lab coats to be used during their activities. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that can withstand small messes. While food and drink is not permitted inside the lab, participants are welcome to pack snacks and eat them in the lobby.
