Campers will design and build their own Seaperch ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) and then particapte in battle bot and obstacle course challenges. SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. Students build the ROV from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts, following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. The SeaPerch Program provides campers with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV as part of a science and engineering technology curriculum. Throughout the project, campers will learn engineering concepts, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical applications.
The Citizen Science Lab is fully equipped with the tools and equipment needed to facilitate fun, engaging and safe experiments. All students are provided with gloves, safety goggles and lab coats to be used during their activities. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that can withstand small messes. While food and drink is not permitted inside the lab, participants are welcome to pack snacks and eat them in the lobby.
