Parents who homeschool their children often lack the resources to incorporate engaging science experimentation into their curriculum. The Citizen Science Lab is a great resource to supplement your child’s education and sharpen your own scientific skills.
Homeschool workshops are designed to introduce participants to introductory laboratory skills. Lasting about 1–3 hours across one or two days, this is a great way to start exploring the life sciences by learning the basics of various experimental procedures.
Some workshops yield results that can’t be observed until the next session. A minimum of 6 registrants is required to hold the workshop. A maximum of 20 students can be accommodated at a time.
We are always adding new Homeschool Workshops, but here are a few of our favorites:
Introduction to Microbiology
Students discover microorganisms that live everywhere we can imagine by taking and culturing samples from their surroundings.
Intro to DNA
Students build a model of a DNA molecule, identify the different parts and their functions, harvest DNA and use it for another experiment.
Students create their own glowing bacteria through the true gene transfer of a plasma coding for a fluorescent protein.
