The SeaPerch curriculum teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. SeaPerch is an innovative nationwide underwater robotics initiative that equips students with the resources and support to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). In this initiative of The Citizen Science Lab, students build their ROV from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts and then navigate it through aquatic obstacle courses. Throughout this year-long experience, participants learn engineering concepts, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical applications of robotics and engineering.
SeaPerch at The Citizen Science Lab consists of 2 separate groups:
The SeaPerch Initiative is for African American middle school girls only. The SeaPerch Initiative meets Mondays and Wednesdays (applicants must choose which day to enroll in).
The SeaPerch Program is for Hill District students. The Hill District SeaPerch Program is open to high school and midde school students of all genders who live and/or go to school in the Hill District. The SeaPerch Program meets on Thursdays.
All sessions meet from 4-6pm
